Highland Office Equipment (HOE) have joined forces with The Wood Foundation. HOE support local charities and high school pupils in Inverness through the Youth & Philanthropy Initiative (YPI).

Third year pupils from all five secondary schools in Inverness have been researching and creating passionate presentations. They presented why their chosen charity should receive a £3000 donation from HOE, part of the Capital group.
Alex Main, HOE’s Sales Director, had previously sat on the judging panel of both the Culloden Academy and also Charleston Academy YPI finals, respectively. At Charleston, he shared a panel alongside HOE’s ICT Manager John Robertson, and Capital Document Solutions Founder & Managing Director Tom Flockhart, to name but a few.

The judges at the Charleston YPI final collectively decided on the Crocus Bereavement Group as the winning charity. Crocus is an organisation that was set up to provide emotional support through peer group sessions and also empowerment for bereaved children.
The very first final, which was held at Millburn Academy, saw special needs touring charity Seagull Trust Cruises announced as the winners, with local charity Mikey’s Line, a text support point, receiving the second £3000 donation at the Culloden Academy final.
A worthy cause
Alex, delighted at being involved in such a rewarding initiative, said:
“This investment enables young people from across Inverness to get close to the big issues that affect our community here. It also directly supports a number of small, local charities. It’s great to see the levels of engagement and active research that all students have undertaken with their chosen charities.”
