February 22nd heralds the opening event of the 2014 rally season, the Snowman Rally, organised by the Highland Car Club. Since 1955 it’s been a stern test for everyone from local motoring club members to future World Rally Champions. These include the likes of Colin McRae.
Highland Office Equipment have been keen supporters of the Snowman Rally in excess of 10 years now and they are delighted to have a stage at Ben Wyvis named in recognition of HOE.
Based in Inverness with Rally HQ at the Thistle Hotel and central service at Dingwall Auction Mart. Drivers, navigators and their support crews are watched by thousands of spectators. They will tackle gravel forestry tracks and closed road tarmac during the course of the season in a bid to take the overall championship crown.
The event features 5 challenging stages around Inverness, and also features a compact route with only 88 road miles.
Euan Thorburn and five-time title-holder David Bogie are set to resume their battle for supremacy on the opening round. The pair will line up their Ford Focus WRCs on the Arnold Clark Thistle Hotel Snowman Rally. It has attracted a bumper entry of 114 crews.
